Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNO): Senior leader of DPAP, Salman Nizami has strongly opposed any move by the J&K govt to reduce or tamper with the (RBA) quota, terming it a grave injustice to the people living in remote and backward regions of the Union Territory. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Nizami said that the RBA quota was introduced to uplift the underprivileged and marginalised sections living in far-flung areas who continue to suffer from a lack of infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities. “Any attempt to slash or dilute this quota will directly hit the most vulnerable sections of our society,” he added. He further stated, “We have already lost almost all our rights after the reorganisation of J&K. Now, reducing the RBA quota would be the last attempt by the NC-led government to snatch what little remains with the poor and backward people.” Calling upon the administration to act judiciously, Nizami urged all political and social organisations to rise above party lines and stand united in defending the rights of the underprivileged. “We will not remain silent. We will fight, politically and legally, against any move that seeks to disempower our people,” he asserted—(KNO)
